Video: It’s Just A Drill; Volunteer Firefighters Hold Training Exercise

NEW HOPE, Miss. (WCBI)- Lowndes County volunteer firemen were honing their skills in a training exercise Tuesday.

First responders answered a call to an abandoned house in the New Hope area. They knew it was an exercise, but had no idea what they’d find inside.

Firefighters say drills like this test the breadth and depth of their skills..

“We’re going to demonstrate communication between volunteer fire, law-enforcement, EMS, city fire and hazmat. It’s a full-scale event just to bring everybody together and see how we operate, find our weak points, and work on them,” said Chief Wayne Doyle.

The mock up drill consisted of a neighbor who reported smoke from a home, and when crews went inside the home they found a meth lab with firearms.
