VIDEO: Keeping Dean Park Beautiful

WINSTON COUNTY, Miss.(WCBI)—Keeping Dean Park in Winston County was the goal Saturday as the Friends of Dean park hosted a beautification day.

The Friends of Dean Park host this event quarterly to ensure the park remains in good condition.

The group partnered with other local organizations like; the 4H Club and a the newly established Black Girls Read Club.

The volunteers planted vegetables cleared path ways and watering.

Elmetra Patterson says this is their duty to ensure the kids in the community have a clean safe place to play.

“It’s very important to have the park beautiful place for the community. When we started our organization the park looked like a garbage den. We thought, wow, we can’t have our children come to a park like this. There are beautiful children and they should have a beautiful place to come to,”said Patterson.

The group will hold it’s next beautification day after Christmas.
