KILMICHAEL, Miss.(WCBI)–Voters are headed to the polls in the town of Kilmichael. A special election is being held as residents in the Montgomery County town elects a new mayor.
After going into a voting booth at city hall Tuesday, a Kilmichael couple cast their ballot for the man or woman, they didn’t tell us who they voted for, that is expected to lead the city and move it forward.
“We’re real proud of our small town and it means a lot to us. We’ve lived here for 50 something years. Taught school, both of us are retired and we just want to be involved in our community,” said Olene Boggan/kilmichael Voter.
The candidates were not too visible on the day of Tuesday’s election, but it was hard not to miss their campaign signs here and there.
“And its a very close race, so they are well thought of in the community,” said Jerry Boggan/Kilmichael Voter.
The four candidates running are doing it for love because the part time position doesn’t pay a lot of money. They are Tommy Rushing, Bobby Howell, Jeremy Robinson, and Mary Young.
“All of them here that are running are experienced and they kind of lead the way for the town and for the people,” said Jerry Boggan.
Former Kilmichael Mayor Ryan Woods ran for Chancery Clerk and won.
