TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — A longtime volunteer is named Parent of the Year for Lee County Schools. Antoinette Freeman has a daughter who is a freshman at Shannon High School. Antoinette was named parent of the year Tuesday evening at the regular meeting of the Lee County School Board. Mrs. Freeman has helped supply extra materials for teachers, she has coordinated with her church to provide school supplies for needy students, she has served as a Title One advisory committee, and many has helped with many other activities and projects. She encourages other parents to get involved.

“Education is important, they need to be involved with their kids as they grow up then they can be able to maintain and handle their daily lives and everything that they accomplish in education, ” said Freeman.

All 13 Lee County schools had a nominee for parent of the year. Freeman got a plaque, flowers and a gift certificate.
