COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)-Ousted Columbus Schools Superintendent Martha Liddell has sued to get her job back. Liddell was fired June 17th by a 3 to 2 school board vote. Late Friday afternoon, she sued, claiming the three board members conspired secretly to remove her and that the meetings were held illegally. Liddell seeks an injunction blocking the board’s action and returning her as superintendent. Liddell was completing the first year of a three-year contract. While the three board members listed a variety of missteps during two weeks of discussions about Liddell’s performance, her using school funds for a private party were the official reason cited for her firing. No hearing date has been set in Lowndes County Chancery Court.
