VIDEO: Louisville Church Offering Safety Seminar

LOUISVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)- A Louisville church wants to ensure the congregation knows how to respond in the event of an emergency situation.

Monday night the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church in Louisville was packed with church members.

A “Protecting The Flock” safety seminar is being held for the public.

Jimmy Meeks has been a police officer in Texas for 35 years. Meeks has also been a minister for the last 44 years.

As an instructor for Sheepdog Safety Training, Meeks is coaching church members and staff on how to prevent attacks and how to keep one another safe.

One of the organizers says they just want to make sure everyone is equipped and prepared for the worst.

“We owe it to our membership as well as our visitors to protect, so we want to take every measure possible to ensure people are safe in church. Church ought to be place you can come and worship and not have to fear that,” said Jay Murphy.

The seminar will take place again tomorrow night from 6:30 to 9:30.
