LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — The Lowndes County School Board has its preferred site for the new career tech center.

Three locations are still being considered. The old Lee Middle School is one area.

Land behind Lowndes Funeral Home on Lehmberg Road, which is shovel ready, and property in front of Columbus Nissan are also being considered.

Superintendent Lynn Wright says the board met Friday to discuss the issue.

He wouldn’t release the preferred site because negotiations are continuing.

Voters approved a 44 million dollar bond package back in May on the second try.

Part of that money will be used to pay for the new facility.

Wright says the bonds should be issued, and a decision made on the site within a month.

Construction will take 18 months for the new building.
