LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Students from across Lowndes County come together for a little friendly reading competition.

Elementary and middle school students in the Lowndes County School District have been holding book fairs at their schools.

Students had to read a book and create a story board presentation.

On Thursday, the first place winners from those competitions came together to compete for district bragging rights.

“There will be a winner in each of the categories, and there are twelve categories that we will have today, so every category has a first, second, and third place winner, and then we will have best in fair, and that is the overall winner,” says Lowndes County School District Curriculum Coordinator, Susan Lingle-McClelland.

Today’s winners move on to the regional reading fair in Oxford in February.
