LOWNDES, Miss. (WCBI) — The groundwork is in place, and as soon as classes are over, construction crews will be back at work on west Lowndes school campuses.

It’s the first phase in a multi-year $26 million building program that will touch all three of Lowndes County’s campuses.

The first phase is new classrooms at West Lowndes Elementary and new bathrooms, and a new classroom arrangement at West Lowndes High School.

The high school changes will make room for the middle school to merge in this fall.

All the changes should be ready by August. Planning for a new Caledonia Elementary, additions to the middle school there and new facilities at New Hope.
