VIDEO: Man Wanted In Four Counties For A Theft Ring Is Finally Captured
WEBSTER COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)-An Attala County man wanted in four counties for a theft ring is now in jail.
Daniel Black was in arrested in Greenwood on Thursday. He’s accused of breaking into homes and businesses in several counties.
“With so many burglaries it just seems it’s a desperate act, it was just break-in, break-in, break-in,” said Landon Griffin, Webster County Investigator. “We recovered a lot of electronics. A lot of electronics. He had branched off from electronics up to ATVs.”
Law enforcement in Webster, Oktibbeha, Attala, and Choctaw counties were all searching for Black for more than a week.
“He would come here and do something, and then go to another county and do something, and then go to another county and do something,” Griffin described. “It’s not like he was just sitting in one county breaking into houses.”
Griffin saw surveillance video from a business break-in that caught Black in the act.
From there, the search to capture Black was on.
“We had received a description of the vehicle he was in,” said Griffin. “Once we put that word out, we sent a BOLO out for the vehicle through our NCIC . They picked the vehicle up I believe in Holmes County at one time.”
Black was tracked down in the Delta, but he didn’t go down without a fight.
“The officers got after him in Greenwood,” he said. “I talked with one of the investigators there and there was a foot chase involved in it and they were able to apprehend him and capture him.”
Griffin believes with Black off the streets, it’ll help investigators solve a lot of unsolved burglaries.
“I have a warrant for his arrest here in Webster,” the investigator said. “I have a copy of the warrant for his arrest in Choctaw, and I know he has a warrant for his arrest in Attala, all for burglary. So right now we’re just kind of all in line waiting to see Mr. Black.”
Griffin said it’s unclear whether Black acted alone in these break-ins.
He’s still waiting to be questioned by Webster County investigators.
