Video: Man will serve 25 years for killing neighbor

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)- A Columbus man pleads guilty to a second degree murder in the death of his neighbor.

Traveil Hicks received a 25 year sentence Tuesday in Lowndes County Circuit Court.

He was charged with the death of Gwen Roberson during a burglary nearly three years ago. He was also charged with setting her home on fire.

A jury could not reach a verdict in the case in December of 2016 and Judge Lee Coleman declared a mistrial.

District Attorney Scott Colom confirmed that Hicks entered his plea Tuesday afternoon.
