Video: Mickens Wants State Legislative Seat

MACON, Miss. (WCBI) — A long time Noxubee County Circuit Clerk and one time Justice Court Judge is hoping to unseat District 42 House of Representative Candidate, Incumbent Reece Dixon.

Calling his bid for state office a new chapter and new beginning, On the steps of the Noxubee County Courthouse, candidate Carl L. Mickens was flanked by relatives pastors and other county residents, as he announced his intentions of seeking a seat in the Mississippi Legislature.

Funding education, economic development, and prison reform are among his concerns.

“Be able to work on ways and means try to trim prison budget if that can be possible. And also I would like to see legislation done that we would have more alternatives beside just long prison sentences,” said Carl L. Mickens/District 42 House of Representative Candidate.

District 42 includes Noxubee, Winston, and Lauderdale Counties.
