MISSISSIPPI STATE UNIVERSITY, Miss. (WCBI) —  Organizers with the Maroon Volunteer Center in Starkville cancelled their annual awards banquet last week because of the dangerous weather. Tonight, volunteers stepped away from the disaster relief efforts in surrounding counties to be recognized for their hard work and dedication. Winners include student volunteer of the year, Ramdeo Seepaul, and Doctor Caroline Huntington as the faculty volunteer of the year.

The Maroon Volunteer Center launched several teams equipped with donated supplies into storm stricken areas last week. The organization is made up of students and staff at MSU.
