Video: MSU Tapped for National UAV Research Center

MISSISSIPPI STATE UNIVERSITY, Miss. (WCBI) – Mississippi State will soon be home to the country’s top civilian research center for unmanned aircraft.

Friday, the FAA picked MSU to be the National Center For Excellence for Unmanned Aircraft systems. The availability of the Raspet Flight Research center which is already on campus coupled with the Stennis Center on the coast and several private companies helped with the selection.

“We are fairly certain we will be establishing the rules for UAV unmanned vehicles unmanned aircraft for the entire United States and that is amazing amazing accomplishment for a wonderful research university like Mississippi State”

The studies will range from agricultural use here and abroad defense missions and strategies, and even how unmanned flights can help in wide scale natural disasters.
