Video: New Aberdeen Mayor, Alderman Sworn In

ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) – It’s now official, Aberdeen’s new Mayor is sworn in on Tuesday.

In front of a packed courtroom, Maurice Howard was sworn into office as Aberdeen’s Mayor.

In April, he beat challenger John Allen, in a runoff election, claiming the city’s top spot.

Howard is an Aberdeen native, a business man and also a local pastor.

His duties began almost immediately, at 5 pm, when he led his first Mayor and Board of Aldermen Meeting.

The board and police chief were also sworn in during the ceremony.
