HOUSTON, Miss. (WCBI) – The new school superintendent in Houston says he’s looking forward to returning home after 27 years. Tony Cook says he wants to bring some of the same successes there that he’s had in Amory and Pontotoc.

“I have not lived in Houston since 1988 and I am excited to be able to go home, be close to family. I have a vested interest in the district, I have nieces and nephews there so I want to make sure that district is the best it possibly can be.”

He officially starts work July 1st. The Houston school district is slightly larger than Amory and has a more racially diverse student body.
