COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – A new operator for the Columbus-Lowndes County airport has some big plans for the  facility. The City council and Lowndes supervisors have approved a five-year management agreement with airplane enthusiast Claude Hendrickson. Columbus Aviation will be paid 40 thousand dollars a year and will take profits from fuel sales and hangar rentals. The previous operator was paid 26 thousand a year. Hendrickson has told city and county leaders he may one day want to buy the airport and expand it into a museum to show off his vintage airplanes to school children and other groups.
