Video: New School Board Member Sworn In

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – During the Tuesday Columbus Municipal School Board meeting, a new member was sworn in.

Columbus Mayor Robert Smith was on hand at the meeting to swear in Dr. Josie Shumake.

Shumake replaces Glenn Lautzenhiser.

Her duties began immediately, as she sat on the board for her first meeting after being sworn in.

Shumake is retired from the U.S. Department of State and U.S. Information Agency.

She will serve a five year term.

Lautzenhiser served on the board for 25 years and was not reappointed by the city council.
