COLUMBUS, MIss. (WCBI) — After a week in the hospital, Lowndes County deputy Lt. Clint Sims was released Tuesday. He was shot multiple times in the leg last week. Meanwhile, Lt. Larry Swearingen remains in the hospital. He was shot in the abdomen.

Last week, a number of Lowndes County deputies were checking on Kent Coscia at his Drake Circle home. Investigators say just as they were about to go inside, Coscia opened fire and hit the two veteran deputies. Coscia remains in jail.
