PONTOTOC, Miss. (WCBI) – Business is booming in Pontotoc for furniture manufacturer Delta Furniture and now they’re ready to expand. Delta Furniture opened its doors five years ago and now the thriving company is adding more employees.

“We give credit to our management team here and also our employees that build quality products,” says Terry Wages, Co-founder and President of Manufacturing at Delta Furniture.

The company currently has more than 200 employees. Now, it plans to add 50 more employees.

“We’ve already started hiring a few people along but we will gradually grow even more,” says Wages.

Delta builds living room furniture and distributes to retail stores nationwide. The furniture maker produces more than 20,000 units on average each year. Delta has also received assistance from the City of Pontotoc and the Mississippi Development Authority to upgrade the plant. Josh West of Three Rivers Planning and Development says the manufacturer is vital to Pontotoc.

“This project started out as a company expanding, a start-up company expanding into a vacant space so seeing them where they were then and where they’ve come to now is very encouraging and very important to Pontotoc,” says West.

Delta Furniture plans to have the expansion process completed by the end of the summer.
