Video: Popular restaurant now closed

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI)- After nearly 60 years, an iconic restaurant in Tupelo is closing.

Shockley’s on South Gloster has been a popular breakfast joint. For the last time Sunday they served area locals. The owner says the condition of the building, as well as other factors have made things a little tough, forcing them to shut the doors.

Loyal customers though, say they’re going to miss Shockley’s.

“It’s been a mainstay since the sixties. I remember coming here in the mid-sixties with my dad. It’s just going back in time. A good place,” said Mike Armour.

“I’ve been coming here since the seventies with my grandparents and we come pretty regular ourselves, and we enjoy it. We hate to see it go,” said Greg Lambert.

The good news though, the owner says there is a chance the restaurant could reopen in another location.
