Video: Prosecution Rests Case In Murder Of Arveo Lane

Macon, Miss. (WCBI) – The State has rested its case against LaMarcus – L. A. – Jones. The Prosecution called Noxubee County Sheriff Terry Grassaree and Steven Hayne to the stand today.

Grassaree was Chief Deputy in 2008, when Arveo Lane was killed, and was one of the investigators in the case. Hayne is the former state Medical Examiner, and performed the autopsy on Lane. Jones and Mareno Hubbard are accused of murder in the shooting death of Lane.

Hubbard testified for the prosecution Tuesday. Jones’ lawyers are expected to begin presenting his defense on Thursday. This is the fifth time the case has gone gone to trial. The four previous trials all ended in mistrials.

Testimony is expected to last through Friday.
