VIDEO: Republican Run Off For U.S. Senate Seat

VERNON, Ala. (WCBI) – It’s election day in Alabama.

After a spirited 6 week campaign, Alabamians will cast their vote in a republican runoff.

The race is between former Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore and Senator Luther Strange for the U.S. Senate.

Vernon Alabama voter precinct inspector Kathy Healtherly says for this election, voter registration is up and there’s been a good bit of traffic at the polls.

“Today’s election has become a popular issue, especially since President Trump came to Huntsville and some other well known people Sarah Palin and different ones campaigning for the 2 candidates and that has really sparked interest,” said Healtherly.

Tuesday’s winner advances to face Democratic nominee Doug Jones on Dec. 12.
