VIDEO: Residents Gather To Hold Prayer Vigil In Light Of Church Mass Shooting In Texas

HOULKA, Miss. (WCBI)- The Ripple Effects of Sunday’s mass shooting at a Texas Church are being felt here in North Mississippi

On Thursday, a group of Chickasaw County residents came together in Houlka for a prayer vigil to remember the fallen and pray for peace.

The event’s organizer said the Lord placed it on his heart to host the vigil.

The group read scriptures and said prayers up for everyone involved in Sunday’s shooting and their families.

“Just heartbroken for that church and their pastor and just everything that they are going through right now. As Christians your heart just goes out for them and I’m glad that we came together tonight to just lift them up in prayer because they truly need it,” said Pastor DeWayne Warren, who attended the prayer vigil

“As a Christian our main defense,line of defense is prayer. When we think we can’t do anything else, we can pray, said Pastor Bradley Collums, who put on the prayer vigil.

A total of 26 People were killed in the Texas shooting.
