TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Hundreds turned out to honor a local doctor and raise money for a clinic that helps low income residents. Doctor Wayne Slocum, an obstetrician and gynecologist, was guest at the 12th annual roast for the “Antonne Tannehill Good Samaritan Free Clinic.” Slocum was roasted by several longtime friends. He says being the focus of the stories was well worth it because of the great work from those who keep the clinic running for so many people.

“It takes a lot of work from the doctors, but it takes a lot of work from people other than the doctors, the medications, we have pharmacists, we have nurses, we have , other professionals, lots of donations in kind, lots of people work hard to make this a reality.”

Money raised from the event covers about one third of operating costs for the clinic. Doctors, nurses and others volunteer their time to see patients at the clinic.
