Video: Senator Terry Brown Amphitheater Nears Construction

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The Senator Terry Brown Amphitheater is set to break ground on September 9th.

The $2.9 million dollar project is being funded by the state, and construction is expected to be completed by June 1st, 2017.

There are two parts for the project, but the city is trying to get additional funding for Phase II.

“We’re calling this really, Phase I. It will get all of your hard lighting, all of your dirt work, and all of the underground stuff done. It will also get you a stage, and get you grass seating. It will be ADA accessible from day one. It will have all those things right now from ADA accessibility standpoint, that our current venue doesn’t have, but in the future, we will add all the amenities, restrooms, concessions, ticket booth, security, and all of these things that aren’t currently available at all,” says Project Engineer, Kevin Stafford.

Phase II will cost an estimated 2 million dollars.

Planners are still trying to iron out parking plans for the facility.
