STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Starkville High School students are mourning the loss of a special musician.

The Starkville school district tells WCBI that Keyone Docher, who played piano for the SHS Singers, has died.

He passed away Friday night while on a trip with some members of the group, who were selected to perform with Mississippi’s All State Honor Choir in Hattiesburg.

Keyone was no ordinary accompanist.

He was diagnosed with terminal cancer when he was just in second grade, and learned how to play piano through the Make a Wish Foundation.

He’d been playing with the Starkville High choir since August.

Keyone was known to be a fighter, and a true inspiration to students.
