VIDEO: Spreading Love Across The Community

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Vibrant Church and the Columbus Housing Authority are working together to build lasting relationships in the community.

On Saturday morning, the volunteers arrived at the Coleman Building for the first “Love the Block” celebration with a fully prepared Thanksgiving meal.

This event is just one of the many the church hosts throughout the year.

The meal was equipped to serve close to 200 people.

Vibrant Next Generations Pastor Mike Stephens says it’s important to show our thanks for our fellow neighbors.

“What we want to do is have one table where everyone sits down and has Thanksgiving together, because so many times, people don’t know their community, they don’t know their neighbors, and so we want to serve them a free meal, but at the same time, introduce them to the people they deal with and bring a community together.”

The Love the Block event will take place every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month.
