Video: Spreading A Message Two T-shirts At A Time

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)- Everyone likes a free t-shirt. Now, one store in Starkville wants you to give one to a complete stranger.

It has a message and meaning, reminding us there’s still some good in our lives.

Three words printed on a t-shirt read “people are good.” The small words aim to catch your attention and bring out something positive.

“I’m hoping that we can build trust again and that when people see a people are good t-shirt, that they’ll know what that person believes. They’ll know they believe that all people are good. Not just a particular group,” said Owner Meagan O’Nan.

The black and white words hanging on the wall, display labels that are often put on others. The words in color show what we all have in common.

“I do believe people are good. We just don’t believe that in other people always,” said O’Nan.

To spread the kindness, you buy a shirt and get one to give to a complete stranger.

“I believe having interactions with strangers and having conversations with strangers, creates positive energy,” said O’Nan.

People from across the world are buying the t-shirts. One shopper says it’s a movement that the world needs.

“There’s a lot of division in our country. A lot of feelings and it covers up the goodness that’s in all of us,” said Elizabeth Hawkains.

It’s a simple gesture, with one powerful message to humanity.

“I want people to believe in people again, and I hope this creates trust,” said O’Nan.

“If you walk around with a shirt that says people are good, it makes people think about it,” said Hawkains.
