Video: Starkville Connection to this Year’s Boys Nation

WASHINGTON D.C. (WCBI) –American Legion Boys Nation is underway in Washington D.C. And it has an Oktibbeha County feel to it.

Two Starkville residents are representing Mississippi at the prestigious convention. Bradley Curtis and Reid Stevens are the Mississippi Delegates to the gathering.

Stephens was picked from the 98 delegates to take part in what is widely regarded as the most solemn ceremony that takes place in our Nation’s Capitol: The laying of the wreath at the Tomb Of the Unknown.

When we placed that wreath I was just sort of overcome with a sense of like a sense of liberty and freedom knowing the history of the Tomb of the Unknown, and experiencing seeing a wreath being laid before it was just great having that opportunity for myself, and being able to take part in such such a great moment.”

The group also toured Arlington National Cemetery, and will make a trip to Capitol Hill to meet with members of Congress.
