Video: The Starkville Neighborhood Market Project

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – A decision on the Starkville Neighborhood Market Project is pushed back to the next Mayor and Board of Aldermen Meeting on October 4th.

The $14 million dollar project would locate a Walmart east of Highway 12.

The new market would bring almost 100 new jobs to the area.

Starkville Alderwoman Lisa Wynn says the Walmart would benefit the area greatly.

“We have a lot of college students out there at a complex called Haven 12, and for those residents that live out there on old West Point Road, Rockhill Road, east of town, they’ll have a supermarket to shop,” says Lynn.

The project would be paid for through a tax increment financing plan.
