Video: Starkville Police Department And Others Helping Flood Victims
STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Starkville Police and animal control officers are sending relief supplies to Louisiana flood victims and their animals, and they need your help.
The two departments are collecting household and personal care items for families.
They need items like paper towels, garbage bags, and batteries. They’re also accepting baby needs, bedding and new clothing items.
For animals, you can donate food buckets and bowls and gallon jugs of water.
Officers will take the items to Louisiana this weekend.
“My family lives in Denham Springs, and also has a business in Denham Springs, and I was already trying to figure out what to do, so I was like, well if people are wanting to help, let’s help, so a couple of us got together, and said what can we do to help, and we came up with the donation, and decided we would take it ourselves, and deliver it to the proper people,” says SPD Corporal Mandy Wilson.
You can take donations to a number of locations in Starkville, including all of the Starkville Police Department locations, Oktibbeha County Humane Society on Industrial Road, Ricks Cafe on Highway 182, Spruill Property Management on Louisville Street, Smith Animal Hospital on North Jackson Street, Oktibbeha County Co-Op on Pollard Road.
