STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Some Starkville students went to OCH to follow some future medical professionals as they got to check out the real deal.
Porter Miles is following the foot steps of his family.
“My parent are pharmacist, my uncle’s a doctor so I’ve always liked it.”
The hands on experience he’s getting …
“How the machines work and how they set it up and what to look for for what machines,” says Miles.
Makes him excited for his future.
Hayes Miller is also in the radiology lab.
“I think it would be cool to be a radiologist and read the MRI’s and cat scans and stuff.”
She also has family in the field but says she just loves all things science.
“I just love learning about the human body and how it works and it’s just really interesting.”
Hannah Cuevas is deciding between two careers, shadowing in the ER she gets to see what a nurse does day to day.
“A few shots and injections to get some blood out, like pulling blood and numbing things and that was really interesting to me,” says Cuevas.
No matter what job she picks, she knows she wants to practice close to home and being at OCH lets her get a jump start on making it happen.
All the students shadowing were participating in Starkville Academy’s career day.
