Video: State Auditor Talks to MSU Students

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — The state’s top accountant took a little time out Monday night to reach out to the next generation of financial professionals.

State Auditor Stacey Pickering was at Mississippi State speaking to the University’s chapter of the Accounting and Financial Women’s Alliance.

Pickering says that there is a shortage of accounting majors in both the private and public sectors.

He also says that there is a diverse range of opportunities for accountants and other financial professionals.

“Helping them see how we do our job, and really how big the accounting profession truly is,” Pickering said. “It’s how many avenues they will have to practice their profession.”

On the political front, Pickering faces Jocelyn Pritchett and Lajena Walley in next month’s general election.
