VIDEO: TPD Hosts December Remembrance Vigil

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI)- Dozens gathered in Tupelo Thursday night to honor the men and women in blue.

Organizers tilted it a December Remembrance vigil, which was held at Fair Park to pay respects to those who’ve died in the line of duty.

Residents and the Tupelo Police Department were all there for the special ceremony.

Nearly four years ago to the day, Officer Gale Stauffer was shot and killed during a Tupelo Bank Robbery.

His mom was one of the speakers and says it’s important to remember the ones who put their lives on the line.

“One of the best things that you can do for a family member, especially a parent and a mama, is to remember their child if you’ve lost them, but to be able to have people think and be kind enough to remember Gale every year is, it keeps us going,” said Debbie Brangenberg.

Officer Stauffer is the only TPD Officer that’s lost his life in the line of duty.
