SCOOBA, Miss. (WCBI) – The choice of an outsider as EMCC’s new president raises some eye brows. But board members say their pick GIVES the school two dynamic leaders. Many people assumed that E-M-C-C vice president Doctor Paul Miller would replace his long-term boss, Doctor Rick Young, when he retires next month. Miller was a finalist but the board picked Doctor Thomas Huebner. He is a veteran of four-year and two-year schools and comes home to his native Mississippi from Shelton State in Tuscaloosa. E-M-C-C leaders say Miller’s legislative contacts and work overseeing construction of a new student union and job skills center combined with Huebner’s broad experience are a good match.

“He is invaluable with his work with legislators and local elected officials. He has wonderful strategic planning talents. We believe under the leadership of Doctor Huebner and with the talents of Dr. Miller and other EMCC staff, we will continue to have a dynamic team to take EMCC into the future.”

Huebner officially starts work July 1st.
