Video: Tupelo Hosts Boys and Girls Club State Convention

TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) –  Managers of Boys and Girls Clubs throughout Mississippi and Alabama are taking a few days to refine their leadership skills and also get inspired to continue their mission.

The annual state leaders meeting for Boys and Girls Clubs throughout the state kicked off today at the Bancorpsouth Conference Center in Tupelo.

Today, it was an opportunity for club managers to get input on how to improve their leadership skills and to exchange ideas with other club managers.

“Boys and Girls Clubs is a people business and managers have to be able to talk to the parents, talk to their staff members so we can get the best outcome for the kids who come to the Boys and Girls Club, so it’s important for them to be aware of how they relate to the community, staff and parents who send their kids to the Boys and Girls Club,” said Sidney Boyd, who is leading some of the sessions.

On Wednesday, more than 150 staffers from clubs around the state and in Alabama will arrive for the conference, which wraps up Friday.
