Video: Veteran Celebrates 91st Birthday at CAFB

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — A military veteran from Crawford is celebrating his birthday in a special way.

David Jones spent his 91st birthday at Columbus Air Force Base, Thursday.

Jones had a chance to see the planes, drive along the flight line, and experience a T-1A Jayhawk simulation flight.

The day of fun wrapped up at the Columbus Club on-base for a celebration in Jones’ honor.

He’s had many accomplishments in his 91 years.

Jones served in the Coast Guard for two of them, and worked on the Gemini and Mercury spacecraft projects as a mechanic.

He was also the first black lock foreman at the Stennis Lock and Dam.
