VIDEO: West Point Family Still Searching For Answers After Thanksgiving Day Shooting

WEST POINT, Miss.(WCBI)—The investigation continues into the shooting death of 21 year old Dajah Shaw.

A rap concert, Thanksgiving night, turned into a nightmare in West Point, leaving law enforcement to piece together what happened.

Dajah Shaw was shot and killed that night. Several months after the gunfire, her family attorney released a radio ad hoping someone would step up with information.

“Our hope was that individuals who were there who witnessed, may have seen, or have knowledge of what may have occurred that night. We hope they come forward and we can offer anonymity to those people to just shed light on what happened, why it happened, and give this family some answers as to why they lost their daughter,”said Shaw’s family attorney Philip Stroud.

It’s been eight months since the Moneybag Yo concert. West Point Assistant Police Chief tells me the department isn’t letting up on the investigation.

“We are following leads. We are still questioning people. Right now, we are actually following the evidence that we have on hand. We’re currently in the process of working with outside agencies on the evidence that we have, that we collected from the crime scene, to lead us in the direction of the shooter,”said West Point Assistant Police Chief Albert Lee.

Stroud says this is the first time he’s used radio to reach out for help. He hopes it will appeal to people around Dajah’s age group.

“There was a specific group of individuals who were there that night. Primarily ones who were younger people who would attend this type of concert. So, our hope was that individuals would come forward and do what’s right and in an effort to protect the community from this happening again,”said Stroud.

Lee says using the airwaves is not a traditional way to gather leads but the ad is helping.

“The radio ads are very helpful. As long as we can keep this fresh in the communities eyes, to let them know that we are not sitting by the way side. We are not letting it become, what they call, a cold case and that we are going to pursue it where ever it may take us,”said Lee.
