Video: Winston County Kids Get a Lesson in Fireworks Safety

LOUISVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) –The Fourth of July is right around the corner and a local fire department and the American Red Cross want to help make sure it’s a safe one.

A workshop presented by the Louisville Fire Department and the Red Cross was held at the Friends of Dean Park and Ollie Dailey Community Center.

It targeted kids 7 to 18 years old. The fireworks safety camp is part of an effort to help make sure everyone has a safe Fourth of July.

“Fireworks are a big part of the Fourth of July and we just want to prevent kids from getting injured with fireworks. We want to show them how safely to do fireworks and we tell them not to throw them at each other or take them off the sticks and throw them.”

The kids also learned about fire safety and manned the fire pumper truck.
