VIDEO: World Polio Day

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – One local group is raising awareness for World Polio Day.

The Emerson Family School in Starkville is working with Shot@Life to erase polio.

Key speakers, the mayor, policemen and children came out for the event.

“This is World Polio Day today. We want to keep all of our children safe, and in order to do that, we want families to take the initiative and make sure that their children have proper immunization,” says Emerson Family Resource Center Project Manager, Elmarie Carr Brooks.

Children participated in the Pennies for Polio challenge to raise funds for polio.

Polio has dropped 99.9% since 1988.
