LOUISVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – The Louisville Mayor’s Youth Council members have taken a bold step.

They have presented an ordinance to the Louisville Mayor and Board of Aldermen that would do away with what they see as the indecent wearing of saggy pants.

Pleased with their performance before city officials, students from local city and county schools have crafted an ordinance they hope will soon become law.

“Our youth, just like you adults we would like to see it gone away just as much as you would like to see,” said Macey Donald, Winston Academy.

More is expected to be added to the 2 1/2 page document.

The students modeled it after city ordinances that are already on the books.

“We don’t have the penalties for the ordinance set up yet but we do have the ordinance drafted of whats included and whats not included,” said Zachary Allen, Louisville High School.

“We hope to be able to enforce this ordinance and get that out of Louisville,” said Elizabeth Eaves, Louisville High School.

The document includes tough language to address lewd and indecent exposure issues.

“We are just tired of it and want to do something about it,” said Dalamom Harris, MYC Louisville High School.

The Mayor’s Youth Council is expected to present a penalty portion of that saggy pants ordinance the first Tuesday in January.
