WCBI statement following Columbus tornado

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – This has been a challenging 24 hours for our community.

We are thankful to everyone in the WCBI family far and near who have reached out to check on our people, our town and even our building.

So many of our neighbors are facing devastating losses. And, we want you to know that in the days to come, we will be here for you, as you always are for us.

A special thanks to Todd Gale at Columbus Light and Water for trying to locate a generator for us when they were dealing with their own problems. Thanks to CL&W, Tupelo Water and Light, Starkville Electric and 4-County EPA for getting the power back on quicker than we could have hoped. Thanks to Rackley Oil Company for bringing us diesel fuel and to Brad Collums at Burford Electric who reached out to us, then came to the station in the middle of the night and volunteered to help with our generator.

This is why there is nowhere better to live than North Mississippi. Everyone always pulls together to help one another whenever people are in need. We are proud to call this home.
