West Point Fire Victim Identified

WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) – Investigators have identified the man that died in a Thanksgiving afternoon fire.

Clay County Coroner Alvin Carter says William Brownlee Sr., 62, was found inside the burning Washington Street home in West Point.

The fire apparently started about 4 PM on Thursday.

Firefighters and the state fire marshal are still trying to determine how the blaze started.

Brownlee’s body is being sent to the state crime lab for an autopsy.

West Point police are also assisting in the investigation.
