Weyerhaeuser Celebrates A New Addition To The Mill

BRUCE, Miss. (WCBI) – It may not seem like a big deal in any other town, but a new turn lane is being used as a testament to a town’s growing industry.

The lane veers out from Highway 9 in Bruce to the Weyerhaeuser Mill.

It provides easier access for log trucks turning in off the highway.

The lane will also help with traffic, and prevent log trucks from having to park on the side of the road.

Governor Phil Bryant approved the $450,000 dollar project that’s been in the making for several years.

“It was much need for the safety of anybody that travels this highway. It gives the trucks an opportunity to pull over and get off the main highway because it was really a big issue prior, and I’ve got to thank the local leadership, MDA, Three Rivers, and Senator Jolly for everybody working together and making this happen,” says Appalachian Regional Commission Director, Mike Armour.

The Mississippi Development Authority and Appalachian Regional Commission helped with the grant, and the town and county provided money to match for the project.
