JACKSON, MISS. — The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) would like to inform motorists of a wide load that will move through the state next Wednesday.

On Wednesday, January 30, 2013, Diamond Heavy Haul will be moving a large load from the Contract Fabricators in Holly Springs to the Port of Yellow Creek. The load will measure 20 feet by 6 inches wide, 18 feet by 8 inches high, and 150 feet long and will weigh 261,000 pounds. The route the hauler will travel will be from Rolfing Road in Holly Springs entering Highway 7 to Ed Smith Drive, then take Highway 4 to Highway 5. It will then travel U.S. Highway 72 to U.S. Highway 45 north and proceed to Highway 2 to Highway 350 and then to Highway 25 to County Road 370 where it will reach the Port of Yellow Creek. This load will be accompanied by local law enforcement officers. Utility bucket trucks will also be attending this move to negotiate the low wires that will be encountered along the route.

“It is imperative to get this equipment moved to its destination in a timely manner but even more important to keep motorists safe and aware of the wide load move,” said the Mississippi Transportation Commission in a joint statement.

Motorists should be aware and expect a short traffic delay along this route. MDOT regrets any inconveniences this temporary delay may cause.
