WINSTON COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Winston County supervisors and employees may have some tough choices to make.

Supervisors were told this week that high insurance claims on a few employees have hit the county’s employee health insurance hard. Without any changes, insurance costs will increase more than $181,000 when the policy with Blue Cross Blue Shield is renewed in May.

Supervisors will meet April 8 with other carriers and consultants to decide how to trim the increases. Those options include higher deductibles, premium increases for employees and no coverage for future retirees.
