Woman killed crossing highway in Choctaw County

CHOCTAW COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A Starkville woman was killed while crossing a Choctaw County highway.

Stefanie Dawn Turner, 52, was hit by an SUV on Highway 9, near Pensacola Road, on Sunday night.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol said the driver of the Toyota 4 Runner, Hunter McElroy, 21, of Louisville, had minor injuries.

State troopers believed Turner was attempting to cross the northbound lane of traffic.

She died at the scene.

MHP is still investigating the accident.
