YAZOO CITY, Miss. (Press Release) — Mississippi Women for Agriculture will kick off a new lunch-and-learn program May 2.

The first meeting of the “Farm Women Friday” series will be hosted by the Mississippi State University Extension Service at the Yazoo County Extension office and broadcast to county Extension offices across the state.

James Isonhood, Mississippi assistant attorney general, will present “A Primer in the Oil and Gas Industry.” Rachael Carter, a specialist with the MSU Extension Service Center for Government and Community Development, will give an update on the “Managing Oil and Gas Development in Mississippi” project.

Women for Agriculture will provide lunch at 11:30 a.m. to participants at the Yazoo County Extension office. The program will be from noon to 1 p.m. To register, contact the Yazoo County Extension Office at 662-746-2453.

To view the program via the MSU Extension Service’s distance education system, contact the local Extension office.

Farm Women Friday programs will be presented the first Friday of each month. Times and locations will be available online at http://msucares.com/womenforag.

The mission of Mississippi Women for Agriculture is to increase the knowledge and skills of women in all aspects of farm and agribusiness management. The group offers information and educational opportunities through annual conferences, regional workshops, video conferences and the Web.

Participants do not have to be members of Mississippi Women for Agriculture to attend the Farm Women Friday programs.
