Work Underway At Sardis Lake

PRESS RELEASE Vicksburg, Miss… The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announces that beginning March 1, 2016, construction of a new gravel parking lot will begin on the Old Sardis Road access point on the south side of Sardis Lake. Known by many as the End of the Road, the area is popular with local visitors and college students. It serves as an access point for portions of the shoreline between the Clear Creek and Coontown Recreation areas.
The new lot will provide a stable parking surface where erosion has limited access to the area at times. Vehicle access will be limited to the parking area only. There will be access points for ATVs and foot traffic.
The primary mission of the Mississippi lakes is to provide flood risk reduction. With approximately 1.3 million visitors each year, Sardis Lake also contributes approximately $26 million into the local economy. For more information visit our website at www.mvk.usace.army.mil.
